Windsor East African Talent Initiative (WEATI)
Empowering East African Talent Across Canada
The Windsor East African Talent Initiative (WEATI) is a cultural and creative platform dedicated to discovering, showcasing, and promoting East African talent in Canada. Created by Holy Image Canada, WEATI was established to provide artists with opportunities to express their creativity, connect with audiences, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of East Africa.
For many years, countless talented individuals from East African communities lived in refugee camps and difficult circumstances where their gifts often remained unseen. Yet within those communities were powerful voices, inspiring dancers, visionary artists, and storytellers whose creativity carried messages of resilience, hope, and identity.
Today, those talents have a new stage.
Launching in Summer 2026, WEATI will bring together artists, performers, and creators from Windsor and across Canada to celebrate the diversity and artistic excellence of East African culture.
A Celebration of Talent and Culture
The WEATI event will feature a vibrant program showcasing a wide range of artistic expressions, including:
- Live Music Performances by emerging and established East African artists
- Dance Performances blending traditional and contemporary rhythms
- Visual Arts Exhibitions featuring painters, photographers, and creative artists
- Film Showcases presenting powerful stories from East African perspectives
- Fashion and Modeling Showcases highlighting the beauty and creativity of East African design
Building Opportunities for Artists
WEATI is more than an event—it is a movement designed to create opportunities for East African creatives to grow, collaborate, and gain recognition. By providing a professional platform for performance and exhibition, the initiative aims to inspire the next generation of artists and strengthen cultural connections within Canada’s multicultural society.
Through music, dance, art, film, and fashion, WEATI celebrates the journey, creativity, and resilience of the East African community.
